Description
Number 48 is a house dating from the 18th to 19th century, built of gault brick with a grey slate roof. It features projecting pedimented return gables with ornamental side purlin ends and brackets supporting the projecting eaves. There are gault brick chimney stacks on both the left and right sides. The house has two storeys and a three-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, with pilasters flanking each window. The central doorway is accessed by steps and is framed by a portico that includes an attached wall, angle pilasters with capitals and bases, an entablature, a flat canopy, and curved jambs. The door itself has two panels and two round-headed lights. At the rear, there is a wing, and arrowhead railings are attached to each side of the portico, curving around the angles to enclose the forecourt.
