Description

Weeley War Memorial stands at the south side of the junction of Bentley Road and Clacton Road. It consists of a rough-hewn Portland stone wheel-head cross standing on a tapering plinth. Incised into the plinth is an inscription which reads REMEMBER THE MEN OF WEELEY/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919/ (10 NAMES)/ PASS FRIENDS ALLS WELL. On the side of the plinth is incised 1939 – 1945/ (12 NAMES).

The memorial stands within a small paved area. A stone wall to the rear has four low piers and six small stone posts to the front carry a chain.
