Description

The Ancient House is a house dating from the 15th or 16th century, featuring an exposed timber frame and a red plain tiled roof. The right crosswing has a hipped roof with a gablet facing the road, and there are two red brick chimney stacks on the left range. The building has one storey and attics, with two gabled dormers on the left range. The crosswing is jettied, and there is a window range with one-over-one C20 vari-light mullions. To the right of the left range, there is a gabled porch with sidelights and a vertically boarded door that is nailed and moulded. The top plate has a halved and bridled scarf joint, and the crosswing features arched braces.
