Description
Wyley Cottage is a cottage dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is timber framed, rendered, and features applied timber framing on the exterior, with a thatched roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and stands at one and a half storeys. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars, and an eyebrow dormer above. A 20th-century porch and door are located on the right side. The left gable has a ground floor French window flanked by windows, and a leaded casement window on the first floor. The right gable features a similar leaded casement window above a lean-to bakehouse or dairy. There is an axial brick stack positioned approximately in the center of the building. Although access to the interior was not available, it has been assessed from photographs. The cottage is said to have originally been a pair of cottages and retains two sets of stairs, along with vertically boarded doors.
