Description
Blue House Farmhouse is a house located on the north side of Thorpe Road in Kirby Cross. It has a rear wing that dates from the 17th century or earlier and a front range from the 18th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tiled gambrelled roof and features a red brick chimney stack. It stands two storeys high with attics and includes two 19th-century dormer windows. The façade has a two-window range of three-light casements, with the center lights being small paned. There is a central enclosed gabled porch that has decorative pargetting at the gable apex and a 20th-century plank and muntin door. Inside, the rear wing showcases chamfered bridging joists and some exposed framing. There are 18th-century fireplaces, one of which retains its original basket grate, along with two 18th-century cupboards and original doors featuring ironmongery.
