Description
A house, now divided into three dwellings, dating to the 16th century or earlier, with later additions in the 18th century and the 20th century. The house is timber-framed and plastered, with thatched roofs and red pantiles to the 20th-century extension. It is one storey high with attics. The original house, featuring a gabled crosswing to the right, has a single-storey extension to the left and a 20th-century porch. Two red brick chimneys are present, one external to the left and another to the left of the gabled wing, likely with back-to-back fireplaces. A gabled dormer is located to the left of the chimney stack, and a later angled oriel window is on the side of the external stack. There are various windows, with two in the 20th-century extension. A 20th-century door serves No. 35, a two-panel, two-light door serves No. 37, which has an Eagle Insurance plaque above it, and a 20th-century door serves No. 39. The interior of the central dwelling, No. 37, reveals a heavy timber frame with halved bracing and an inserted ceiling. Original stairs are around the chimney, and there is a fire surround with a smoke board and shelf above. The gabled crosswing features heavy bridging and ceiling joists, and a restored inglenook fireplace backing onto the fireplace in No. 37. No. 35 was inaccessible at the time of survey, but appears to be a 17th or 18th-century extension.
