Description

A row of cottages with a crosswing to the left (north), dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, with later alterations and additions. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with red plain tiled roofs. Prominent red brick chimney stacks are situated centrally and to the right. The cottages are two storeys high. The right side exhibits four small-paned vertically sliding sash windows on the first floor. The left crosswing features 3-light casements with central transoms. On the ground floor, a central carriageway is present, alongside a shop window to the left and pilasters with capitals and bases, a moulded fascia, and a flat canopy. To the left of the carriageway is a small-paned oriel window, supported by arched brackets and featuring a frieze and flat canopy. To the right of the carriageway and far right are additional small-paned shop bays, with a small-paned vertically sliding sash window set between them. Two four-panelled doors, with simple surrounds, are located between the left windows, and a six-panelled and four-panelled door stands between the right windows. The heights of the doors are stepped to follow the line of the hill.
