Description

This is a row of three cottages located on Church Street in Rayleigh, likely dating from the mid-19th century. The cottages are probably timber-framed and have a rough render finish. They have a hipped roof covered with red tiles, with three red brick chimney stacks. The cottages are two storeys high, with a three-window front. Most windows are small-paned, vertically sliding sashes, with the ground floor window on the left being a two-light shop window incorporating segmental heads over each light. Three 20th-century doors provide access. A plaque on the first floor displays the initials “T.U.” and the date 1850. The cottages are included in the listing primarily for their group value.
