Description

Three cottages, formerly a single house, likely dating to the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. The cottages are timber framed and have a rough rendered exterior. They have a red plain tiled roof that extends at the rear. There are two red brick chimney stacks, one original from the 17th century on the left and the other positioned off-centre to the right, with attached shafts. The cottages are two storeys high and have a three-window front with 19th-century vertically sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The windows on the ground floor left and right are angled bays. There are three vertically boarded doors, each with a slanting porch supported on brackets. Inside No. 17 are original doors with antique ironmongery, a staircase beside a chimney, and a brick fireplace with a wooden overmantel, central surround with a moulded cast iron grate and fireback, thought to be similar to those in No. 17. A boxed-in hogsback grate is located on the first floor. Further interior features include a jowled ground floor storey post, chamfered bridging joists, and flat section ceiling beams. The building was once known as The Green Bough Inn.
