Description
This is a table tomb located approximately 12 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Barling Magna, dated 24 January 1808. It commemorates Benjamine and Frances Bannester. The tomb features a stone moulded top slab and plinth, with sunk centre panels on each face. The angle pilasters have fluted bases, and the side panels include round-headed alcoves. One alcove contains four books on a moulded base supporting a Roman lamp, while the other has an urn on a base, decorated with a stem, base, rim, and lid topped with a finial. The central panels are adorned with rays at the concave angles.
