Description

Nos. 17 and 19 on Southend Road are a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century or earlier. They are faced with gault brick and have a weatherboarded rear section. The cottages feature a hipped grey slate roof and have gault brick chimney stacks located at both ends and off-center on the right. The buildings are two stories tall and have a four-window range, which includes small paned vertically sliding sash windows with gauged brick arches above them. There are doorways in the center and on the right, with capitals and bases to the pilasters, friezes, and flat canopies above. The central door is vertically boarded, while the right door is a two-panel, two-light design.
