Description
Nos 55 and 57 on High Street are a mid to late 19th century house constructed of red brick, featuring some black brick diapering. The building has gabled wings that project at both the east and west ends and is two storeys high. It has a window arrangement of 1:2:1, with casements that include glazing bars and stucco square hood moulds. The doorways are designed with 4-centred arches. At the west end, there is a small 20th century shop with a corner entrance. The roof is tiled and features cut and shaped ornamental bargeboards. Nos 47 to 57 (odd), the School and Clocktower, along with No 30 and Nos 44 to 50 (even) and Nos 1 and 2 Shore Road, form a group, with Nos 47 to 53 (odd) and Nos 48 and 50 being of local interest.
