Description

44 and 46 High Street is a small timber-framed and weatherboarded cottage, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It has one storey and attics, featuring a two-window range with double-hung sashes that have single vertical glazing bars. The two central doors are four-panel, butt and bead style, and each has a cornice supported by shaped brackets. The roof is a tiled mansard, which includes two 19th-century gabled dormers. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 30, 44 to 50 (even), Nos 47 to 57 (odd), The School and Clock Tower, and Nos 1 and 2 Shore Road. Nos 47 to 53 (odd) and Nos 48 and 50 are noted for their local interest.
