Description
No 70 on High Street is a substantial mid-19th century house made of grey gault brick, with a date panel indicating it was built in 1848. The building has three storeys and features a three-window range with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars, all set within stucco moulded architraves. The windows on the ground and first storeys are adorned with cornices supported by console brackets, and the central window on the first storey has a pediment. The entrance consists of a recessed 20th-century glazed door framed by a stucco doorcase that includes pilasters, plain Ionic columns in antis, and a cornice. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, with the eaves cornice also supported by console brackets. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 56 to 60 (even), 64 to 70 (even), 74 to 78 (even), along with No 83 and Nos 93 to 99 (odd) and 93A.
