Description

No. 30 High Street is an 18th-century red brick house with a parapet and a restored dentilled brick cornice. The house is two storeys high with attics, and has a three-window front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set within flush cased frames and have gauged brick flat arches; the outer windows are three-light. The central section, containing one window and the front door, projects slightly forward. A raised stucco band runs at first-storey window sill level. The front door is a six-panel design with the upper panels glazed, and is set within a wooden doorcase featuring panelled reveals, pilasters, and a modillion pediment. The roof is tiled, with two flat-headed dormers.

No. 30 forms a group with Nos. 44 to 50 (even), Nos. 47 to 57 (odd), The School and Clock Tower, and Nos. 1 and 2 Shore Road. Nos. 47 to 53 (odd) and Nos. 48 and 50 are considered to be of local interest.
