Description

Victoria Cottage is a house mainly from the 18th century and early 19th century, which incorporates one bay of a medieval house. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has three bays facing west with a central stack from the 18th or early 19th century, and one bay to the south that is part of the medieval structure. The cottage is one storey with attics and features two 19th or 20th century sash windows, along with one 20th century casement window in a lean-to dormer. The entrance has a six-panel door, with the top panels glazed, and is topped by a simple moulded canopy. The cottage has a gambrel roof, while the southern bay has a pitched roof. Inside, there is a large wood-burning hearth, an axial beam with plain joists of vertical section in the main cottage, and heavy studding with plain joists of horizontal section in the southern bay.
