Description
12 and 14 High Street are a pair of attached cottages dating from the 18th century to early 19th century. They are timber framed, mostly covered with weatherboarding, and feature some roughcast render. The roof is made of interlocking concrete tiles. The cottages have four bays facing east, with a gable end towards the road and a shared stack located in front of the ridge. There is a small 20th-century brick and tiled lean-to at the right end. The cottages are one storey high with attics. Number 14 has a 19th-century four-panel door, with the upper panels glazed and faced with hardwood. Number 12 has a 20th-century half-glazed door. The gable end facing the street is roughcast rendered and includes a 19th-century horizontal sash window with eight lights on the first floor. The cottages have a gambrel roof, chamfered axial beams, and plain joists of vertical section. They are included for their group value.
