Shop. Early to mid C16 and C17. Timber-framed and rendered with plain tiled roofs. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with gabled cross-wing and part of range (with No.142 (qv)) parallel to street with higher ridgeline. The cross-wing has a 2-light C19 casement window with central horizontal glazing bar on the 1st floor. The ground floor has a C20 shop front with fascia and display window of 2 large panes and glazed door. The adjoining range to south-east is recessed behind cross-wing and has a 12-pane sash window with moulded surround on 1st floor. The ground floor has a wide passage entrance with painted boarded doors. C19 lean-to rear extensions with asbestos sheet roofs, behind cross-wing which is hipped to the rear. INTERIOR: 3-bay C16 cross-wing with jowled posts, square exposed floor joists and no evidence for jetty. Crown-post roof with thin longitudinal braces to front gable and over first tie beam. Collar purlin stops at king stud on second tie beam. The central collar over front 2 bays is tenoned rather than halved into slightly sturdier rafter pair. Some evidence for wall bracing and former windows on front and rear elevations. Originally these were single 3-bay chambers on each floor. One C17 door of moulded rebated boards survives on 1st floor. The adjoining range is of the early C17 with a clasped side-purlin roof, chamfered spine beam and smallish square floor joists.
