Description
High View is a house built around 1850, constructed from red Flemish-bond brick and featuring a low-pitched gabled roof made of concrete pantiles with end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range on the front facade. It is distinguished by three wide giant pilasters with painted brick capitals, which are connected by sills of the attic windows. The low attic contains two low six-pane sash windows with margin glazing bars.
On the first floor, there is one wide and one narrower twelve-pane sash window, also with margin glazing and segmental heads. The ground floor features a doorcase with a moulded hood supported by consoles, plain pilasters, and a rectangular fanlight. The door has two glazed panes above two moulded panels and is accessed by four stone steps. There is a later addition of a square bay window with a hipped slate roof, which includes a three-light window with a transom that is partly blocked.
Both sides of the house have a pair of similar broad pilasters, which continue above the roof level as stacks. The south side has an off-centre attic window with a semicircular head and radiating glazing bars, along with a twelve-pane sash on the first floor. Further west, there are two twelve-pane sashes above a tall sash featuring central vertical glazing bars and a large semicircular-arched window with margin glazing and radiating glazing bars. The north side has two small windows and one sash. At the rear, there is a lower block with a gabled roof that is positioned at right angles to the main structure. The interior has not been inspected.
