Description

This is an early 17th-century house with alterations from the mid-19th century, located on D'Arcy Road in Tolleshunt Knights. The house is timber-framed and incorporates plastered, weatherboarded, and painted brick detailing in a Flemish bond pattern. The roof is covered in handmade red clay tiles. The original section comprises four bays facing northeast, and there's a parallel brick range built in the mid-19th century. Two internal chimney stacks are positioned at the junction of the two ranges. The house is two stories high, with a two-window arrangement on the front facade, featuring 20th-century casement windows. A central 20th-century door is set within a gabled porch. The rear range contains two chamfered transverse beams with run-out stops in the form of lambs' tongues, alongside plain, horizontally sectioned joists; some of the stops are missing.
