Description

No. 23 Spital Road is a small house dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is timber-framed and covered in white weatherboarding, featuring a half-hipped gambrel roof with a central ridgeline T-plan stack. The house is a single storey with an attic and has a two-window range. At the rear, there is a plain tile lean-to roofed extension covering most of the wall.

The front of the house has two lean-to dormers with leaded windows that include top ventilators. The central entrance is topped by a shallow gabled hood supported on consoles, leading to a door with four moulded panels. On either side of the entrance are two-light leaded casements, each with a central horizontal glazing bar. The north-east elevation features a 20th-century asymmetrical two-light casement and a back door, while the south-west elevation has one 20th-century two-light plain casement. The interior has not been inspected.
