Description
14 Fambridge Road is a house built in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame with ashlar rendering and a slate hipped roof with lead ridge and hips. The house is two storeys tall and has a three-window range, with a large catslide-roofed rear block.
On the front (south) elevation, there is a stack on each flank roof and a 16-pane sash window on either side of a central 12-pane sash window on the first floor. The ground floor has a central doorcase flanked by paired, thin fluted shafted pilasters and three stone steps leading up to it. The rear block has a projecting gablet over the staircase.
Inside, there are several contemporary details, including a marble fireplace in the west ground-floor room and a pine fire surround in the rear kitchen. The dogleg staircase features stick balusters, column newels, and a segmental rear stair arch. The unusual catslide-roofed block has a first floor that covers only part of the space, resembling a contemporary agricultural granary.
