Description
The farmhouse at Prentice Hall Farm dates to the early 17th century, with a 20th-century extension added to the rear of the left-hand side. It is a timber-framed building, clad in weatherboard and plaster, and has a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The original section comprises three bays facing east, with a central chimney stack forming a lobby entrance. The windows are 20th-century casements, and the front door is within a 20th-century lean-to porch. The stack has a moulded base, rebuilt above in the 20th century. A blocked large window, originally for the first floor, is visible above the front door. The house features jowled posts. Inside, there are chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops and plain, vertically sectioned joists at both floor levels. The left-hand ground floor hearth has been re-lined in the 20th century, while a large wood-burning hearth to the right retains 0.33 metres of original brickwork with minor alterations.
