Description

Witham Lodge and entrance gates is a lodge cottage built around 1827, constructed of painted brick with a grey slate roof that is hipped to the left of the rear wing and to the road-facing side of the right forward wing. It features a red brick chimney stack on the rear wing and is designed in an L-shape. Each face of the building has a single vertically sliding sash window.

At the rear left, there are large square gate pillars that are rough rendered, with bases and a moulded cornice. The right pillar is connected to the cottage, while the left return includes a boarded door to the cottage. The left pillar has a pedestrian access way leading to the park, which is fitted with a small cast iron gate topped with acorn finials. The entrance features ornate wrought iron gates adorned with scrolls and a quatrefoil design. This lodge and its entrance gates are part of the group associated with the Braxted Park wall.
