Description

Appleford Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the River Blackwater and was built around 1767. It is constructed of red brick with black brick coping and features three semi-circular arches. The bridge has four circular tie plates, a band above, and a brick parapet, primarily using English bond. On the east face, there are two cutwaters. Stone plaques on the east and west faces are dated "Rivenhall-Braxted 1767". The River Blackwater serves as the boundary between the parishes of Rivenhall and Great Braxted.
