Annexe To Blue Boar Hotel

The Annexe to the Blue Boar Hotel is a hotel building dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brown stock brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof that is hipped at the corner and gabled to the northwest. The building is L-shaped and has three storeys with a two-window range.

On the second floor, there are two sash windows with segmental heads, each featuring two vertical glazing bars. The first floor has two similar windows but with margin glazing. The ground floor showcases a 19th-century shop front that wraps around to the Coach Lane elevation, complete with fascia pilasters and a horizontal design, featuring small panes. A corner entrance is highlighted by a rectangular fanlight.

The first and second floors of the Coach Lane elevation are adorned with small-paned tripartite sash windows. On the ground floor, there is a pedimented Doric doorcase with plain pilasters and a 12-pane sash window. The west flank elevation reveals the outline of an adjoining cottage, which has a gambrel roof and a tie beam still in place. The interior has not been inspected.
