Description
No. 19 High Street is a shop and offices built in the early 19th century. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a slate roof behind a plain parapet. At the rear, there is a block with a plain tile roof; the ground and first floors are made of painted brick, while the second floor features painted weatherboarding facing Coach Lane.
The building stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. The front facing High Street includes two plain sash windows on the first and second floors. The ground floor features a 20th-century recessed plate-glass shop front and a 'jetty' supported by two cast-iron columns with mouldings. The first-floor overhang likely recalls the jettied Moot Hall that once occupied this site. On the Coach Lane side, there is one sash window with a moulded surround and one vertical glazing bar on the second floor, along with a mix of later windows.
Inside, there is a dogleg staircase leading from the first to the second floor, featuring column-on-vase balusters and one section of stick balusters.
