Description
This building is a cottage located to the rear of numbers 90, 92, and 94 on Maldon High Street. It dates from the early 19th century and features a timber frame with weatherboarding and some brickwork. The cottage has a gambrel roof covered with asbestos tiles and some areas of corrugated iron, along with a large central red-brick chimney stack.
The exterior is a single storey with an attic. The north-west elevation is clad in white weatherboarding and has two windows and two doors, all of which were boarded up at the time of the survey. The south-west end has been stripped of its boarding but retains a tiny window. The south-east elevation features black weatherboarding and includes a single-storey lean-to extension made of brick with an asbestos slate roof. There is also a single-storey extension on the south-west end constructed of red brick with a corrugated-iron roof, some black boarding, and a garage door extension with a lean-to roof on the south-west face.
The interior was not inspected. This cottage is a little altered example of a small urban dwelling from this period.
