Description

The Stafford Almshouses, dating from around 1600, are a two-storey house built in a U-plan. The building features exposed timber framing on the street side, while the rear elevation is covered with black weatherboards. Notable architectural details include curved wind-braces on the first storey and four leaded casement windows arranged in a 2 over 2 pattern. The roofs are gabled and covered with peg tiles, and the front eaves once had brackets, which are still in place. Above the central front door, there is a plaque with an inscription and the date 1630.
