Description

The lychgate to the churchyard of St Mary and St Hugh dates from around 1880 and is made of tarred softwood. It features two posts designed in the German 'man-figure' style, with end crown-posts supporting a ridged, gabled roof that is covered in peg tiles. At the ridge, there are three iron finials, with the central finial being a decorative cross, all of which have conoid lead flashings. The original pair of gates includes iron crockets on the toprails.
