Description
The Churchgate Hotel is a house dating from around 1600. It is three storeys high and constructed of timber framing with plaster. The front elevation features three projecting gables, with the outer pair jettied at the second floor level, causing their sides to overhang the first and second storey bays below. The central bay serves as the porch at ground level, which includes pilasters, a round arch, and triglyphs. The windows are leaded, with three-light casements that have mullions and transoms. The roofs are tiled with eaves. The original front door has been removed and the doorway is now plastered over. Inside, there is a 17th-century staircase. At the rear, there are two ranges framed in timber, topped with peg-tiled roofs.
