Description

This is a late 16th and 17th century house, originally timber-framed and now plastered, with half-hipped thatched roofs. The house is single-storey with attics, featuring one gabled dormer on the west side. A 20th-century extension with a thatched roof and a large gabled dormer on the north side has been added to the east. A gault brick stack rises through the west side of the roof, and there are 20th-century casement windows with small panes. The house was formerly divided into two or three smaller units. The south end displays 17th-century timber framing with straight bracing. The north end exhibits heavy timber framing with internal compression bracing at the corners and jowled posts, likely dating from the late 16th century. It includes a splayed scarf with under-squinted abutments in the top plate and probably incorporates re-used timbers.
