Description

The Racquets Court at Copt Hall was built in 1896 by Charles Eames Kempe. It is constructed of rough cast brick with a grey slate roof. The south front features pilasters, a segmental pediment, and finials. A central door is flanked by side lights, and above is a Venetian window. The building incorporates red and yellow brick dressings, a vertical sliding sash window in the east wall, and a clerestory which runs the full length of the roof. A moulded brick plinth is also present. Internally, original features remain, including a balcony and a staircase in a Jacobean style.
