Description
Hawley Farmhouse, built in 1823, is a two-storey building with a symmetrical front facing north and featuring three windows. It has a ripped slate roof and brick dentil eaves. The walls are made of blue header brick with flush red dressings, rubbed flat arches, quoins, a plinth, and stone cills. The windows are sashes set in reveals, with angular Victorian bays on the ground floor that have lead roofs and sashes. The classical porchway has an open pediment with a panelled soffit supported by two slender Doric columns, enclosing an arched opening with a radiating fanlight and a six-panelled door. The east elevation is also symmetrical, featuring two windows and a roof with two slated hips. The wall is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers, and has cambered upper openings and ground-floor Dutch flat arches. The upper windows are casements while the lower ones are sashes. There is a plain doorway within a modern porch.
