Description

Upper Hall is a house dating from the late 16th century, constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and a T-shaped plan, with a later extension added to the north. The front features a four-window range of 20th-century casements and two early 19th-century vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars on the first floor, along with two identical sashes with side lights on the ground floor. A late 18th-century doorcase is present, featuring a flat hood, plain frieze, and moulded pilasters. The original red brick chimney stack has attached diagonal shafts, although the top was rebuilt and rendered in the early 20th century. At the rear, there are gabled wings. Inside, there is said to be an original brick fireplace with a four-centred stop-chamfered arch, and there may be a staircase tower on the north side.
