Description

The Elms Farmhouse is a 17th-century house, altered in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with roughcast rendering and a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The house is arranged with four bays aligned approximately northwest-southeast. There is an axial chimney stack in the second bay from the northwest, and external chimney stacks at each end of the building. A rear wing extends from the northwest bay, creating an L-shaped plan, with an internal chimney stack located near the southwest end. A single-storey extension with a hipped roof is situated at the southwest end. The house has two storeys. The front door has a single pane of glass and is sheltered by a bracketed hood, which is a 20th-century addition. Three 20th-century metal casement windows are on the ground floor, and four are on the first floor. The roof is half-hipped at both ends.
