Description
Leydens Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century or earlier. It is timber framed and has a plastered exterior with a weatherboarded dado, topped with a thatched roof. The building consists of two bays aligned approximately east to west, with a southern aspect and an internal chimney stack at the west end. There is a lean-to extension at the east end and a 20th-century single-storey extension to the west, which is roofed with machine-made red clay tiles. The cottage is single-storey with an attic. The lean-to has a 20th-century door and features three 20th-century casement windows, two of which are leaded, along with one non-leaded casement window. There is also a leaded casement window in a tiled gabled dormer. The roof is hipped to the east, creating a catslide over the extension, and gabled to the west. Some of the framing is exposed internally, and the longitudinal joists are unchamfered.
