Description
Bovinger Lodge is a house dating from the 17th century, with restorations from the 18th and 20th centuries. It features a double range timber frame, with the first floor made of brick and rubble, decorated with rusticated patterned plaster, and the first floor is roughly rendered. The roof is covered with red plain tiles and constructed with staggered side purlins, featuring two gable ends at the front of the 40 by 40-foot dwelling. The house has two storeys and attics, although the original brick vaulted cellar is now blocked. There are two windows on the front, which are 20th-century sliding sashes, and a central ornately panelled door from the early 20th century. Inside, the property has stop-chamfered beams throughout, along with many 18th and early 19th-century doors and architraves, as well as some 17th-century doors with original ironmongery. A notable feature is the central restored red brick octagonal chimney with six shafts and mouldings, which has two flues on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
