HIGH ONGAR HIGH ONGAR ROAD, Mulberry House (formerly listed as the Rectory)

GV II

House. Mid C18 in red brick with red plain tile, double range hipped roof. 3 storeys and cellars with 2 storey adjoining service wing, also in red brick with red plain tile hipped roof. 5, 4 window range, original and C19 vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars, and gauged brick arches. Parapet, red brick band. Doric porch, with columns, pilasters, and panelled reveals, frieze with metopes and paterae and pediment over. 6 panelled door. Small single storey red brick bay window extension to west. West front has 3 window range, C18 vertical sliding sashes with glazing bars, some with C20 decorative head boards. Simple pediment doorcase at rear with pilasters, vertical sliding sash window and cill height doors below. East front also has pedimented doorcase and 6 panelled door in panelled reveals. Service range incorporates remains of earlier structure and a re-used C17 leaded, 3 light window. Red brick centre wall chimneys. Internally most of the original detailing survives, including doors, window shutters, fire surrounds, skirtings and architraves.
