Description
Ketton House, formerly listed as The Rectory, is a fine early 18th century red brick house located on Rectory Road in Kedington. The building features matching fronts on the north and south sides, both adorned with low parapets and stopped end gables, each having two external chimney stacks. Raised brick bands encircle the house at the parapet level and between the storeys. It stands two storeys tall, with attics and cellars, and has a six-window range of double-hung sashes with original heavy section glazing bars, set in flush cased frames with segmental arched heads. The north front includes a central six-panel door with a flat hood supported by console brackets, while the south front features a glazed door that is approached by stone steps with iron railings. The roof is tiled and has three gabled dormers on each front. Inside, there is a notable 18th century staircase with twisted balusters, a richly ornamented Rococo ceiling in the staircase hall, and 18th century panelling.
