Description

1-7 Allens Row is a terrace of seven industrial cottages built in the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of grey gault brick with a grey slate roof. They are three storeys high and feature a seven-window front of original iron pivot windows with small panes set within segmental heads. Internally, there appears to have been full-length accommodation, possibly intended as workrooms. The terrace represents an extremely important example of a building type otherwise unknown in rural Essex.
