Description
Lower Dairy Farmhouse is a 16th-century building designed in a T-plan. It features a timber-framed structure with plastered infill, while the front is exposed. The main range consists of four bays and has been fitted with renewed wooden leaded casements. At the south end, there is a cross-wing that displays carved verge boards and a finial, along with a carved tie-beam that jetties out. The first storey shows traces of a Venetian three-part window, and there are remnants of a matching full-width window on the ground storey, which now has modern three-light mullion and transom leaded casements positioned centrally. The first floor girt is adorned with pairs of carved 'beasts' and an armorial escutcheon at the center. The verge boards are intricately carved with a vine trail, which is formalized and late in style. The roofs are covered with peg tiles on the ridge and gable. There is a 17th-century red brick chimney located at the center of the long range. Additionally, there is a gable porch at the center front on the west side.
