Description

LITTLE HORKESLEY NAYLAND ROAD 1. 5214 Lower Dairy Farmhouse TL 93 SE 3/4 23.6.62 II GV 2. C16 on T-plan, timber-framed and plastered infill, front exposed. Main range of 4 bays side with renewed wooden leaded casements. Cross-wing at south, with carved verge boards and finial, also carved tie-beam which is jettied. Traces of a Venetian 3-part window on first storey and traces of a matching window of full width on ground storey with modern 3-light mullion and transom leaded casements now central to both. First floor girt carved with pairs of addressed 'beasts' and an armorial escutcheon at centre. Verge boards carved with vine trail, formalised and late. Roofs,ridge and gable peg-tiled. One C17 red brick chimney at centre of long range. Gable porch at centre front, west. (RCHM l72/5).
