Description
Boxhouse Farmhouse is a 16th-century house that features a timber-framed and plastered structure with two storeys and a rectangular plan. The building has a ridged, gabled roof covered with peg tiles and a central red brick chimney stack dating from the 17th century. At the front, there is a projecting gabled porch that is two storeys high, which includes a six-panelled door and a modern window above it. Flanking the porch are casement windows on both the first and ground storeys. The house is adorned with scalloped vergeboards and finials, and it retains some pargetted panels along with an Escalop band on the first floor. The layout includes a long, hipped rear wing that is also two storeys high and features its own central red brick chimney stack. Inside, there are two notable late 17th-century plaster ceilings and remnants of the original roof construction.
