Description
The Forge and Post Office is a late 18th century timber-framed and plastered house that has been significantly altered. It stands two storeys tall. The Forge features 20th century casement windows and a four-panel door, which is complemented by a 19th century ornamental iron porch with a semi-circular head. The Post Office has 19th century double hung sash windows with vertical glazing bars and a boarded door. The roofs are tiled and hipped, with a coved plaster eaves cornice. This building is included for its group value with the nearby Cottage east of the Post Office, the Church of St Andrew, Sandon Place, the outbuilding at Sandon Place, the Rectory Road, and The Crown Inn at Sandon Green.
