Description
The Post Office and adjoining cottage to the west are 18th century buildings that were altered in the 19th century. They are constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and feature a Westmorland slate roof with two ashlar ridge stacks. The buildings are two storeys high, with the south elevation consisting of four bays. The Post Office has a 19th-century doorway and a 2-light casement window beneath a continuous lintel. To the left, there is a 19th-century shop window. The cottage to the left features a 2-light square section flush mullion window and a doorway with a massive lintel and quoins. Above, there are three 2-light square section flush mullion windows. The Post Office extends around the corner to the right, where there is a 2-light casement window on each floor, with the upper window having a square section flush stone surround. This listing is included for its group value only.
