Description

Three cottages were built in the middle of the 19th century, possibly by G H Stokes. They are constructed of gritstone ashlar with angle quoins and have steeply pitched gabled and half-hipped roofs covered in plain and fishscale tiles. The cottages feature three large ashlar ridge stacks. The layout follows a Y-plan.

The north-west elevation has a variety of window and door openings. From left to right, it includes a two-light chamfered mullion window with plain casements, a doorway with a chamfered surround and plank door, a two-light chamfered mullion window, and a similar doorway alongside a larger window. Above, there are three single-light windows, the outer ones set beneath steep gables; the left-hand one has a plain casement. The remaining windows feature iron-framed diamond-light casements, chamfered mullions, and surrounds.

The west elevation incorporates a three-light window with a two-light window above. On the south-west elevation, from left to right, are two two-light windows, a doorway with a chamfered surround and plank door, and a two-light window. Three single-light windows are positioned above, with the outer ones set beneath steep gables. The east elevation features similar fenestration, and attached walls enclose back yards, including privies and coal houses.
