Description
The Rectory is a notable mid-18th century red brick house with later additions and alterations. It stands two storeys tall with attics. The north front features a five-window range of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. Above the central three windows, there is an open pediment supported by console brackets, which contains a bulls eye window in the tympanum. The entrance features a central eight-panel door topped by a semi-circular fanlight with ornamental glazing bars, framed by a wood doorcase with Tuscan columns and a cornice. The first storey centre window has a swept and shouldered architrave that connects to the doorway through a panel of balustrading. A rainwater head displays the initials I L and the date 1765. The roof is tiled, with a mansard design that is double pitched and half hipped, featuring a modillion eaves cornice and two flat-headed dormer windows on the north front.
