Description

Mole Hatch is a building dating from around 1500, constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior. It is two stories tall and features a central front door flanked by two sets of modern metal casement windows, with two identical sets of casements above on the first floor. The building has a modern tiled porch and false front timbers. The roof is ridged and gabled, topped with red brick chimney stacks at each end, the southern stack being pilastered. The roof is covered with peg tiles. The plan of the building is rectangular with rear additions, and the number of bays is now indeterminate. The framing is heavy and of good quality, and the roof timbers are heavily soot encrusted.
