Description
St Joseph's Nursing Home is a house that has been converted into a nursing home. It dates from the early 18th century and has later additions. The building is made of brick and features a steeply pitched plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high and has a 12 bay range, which includes three bays that are set forward to the right with a double pitched hipped roof. The central section has a six bay range with an entrance to the right that has a 20th-century porch attached, while there is a three bay wing that is recessed to the left. The windows have segmental heads and are flush framed, retaining some glazing bars, with some made of crown glass. Inside, the building retains some original raised and fielded panelling as well as a turned baluster staircase. The 20th-century wing to the west of the main 12 bay front is not considered to be of special interest.
