Description
The Cricketers Public House is a late 17th-century building that originally featured a two-bay lobby entrance. It was refronted and extended in the early to mid 19th century and incorporates 17th to 18th-century outbuildings on the right. The southwest range is timber-framed and has been refronted in stucco, while the northeast range is entirely stuccoed. The building has a slate roof with cemented chimneystacks and stands two storeys high with five windows. The 19th-century windows are six-pane sashes, with cambered tops on the ground floor, which also features a canted bay. There are pedimented porches at the entrance. The outbuildings are weatherboarded and covered with plain handmade clay tiles. Inside the southwest wing, there is a chamfered spine beam with lambs tongue stops, an open fireplace on two sides with a chamfered wooden bressumer, two 18th-century two-panelled doors, and a plank door. A wooden cupboard with butterfly hinges is located by the fireplace, and much of the ground floor studding remains visible.
